Tricorder XPRIZE: DMI Delivers First Prototype
DMI, one of the ten finalists in the Qualcomm Tricorder XPRIZE, delivered its first rHealth Tricorder prototype to the competition this past weekend. The $10 million Qualcomm Tricorder XPRIZE challenges teams to create a comprehensive, consumer-friendly medical device, inspired by the iconic Star Trek Tricorder.
The rHealth Tricorder is designed to enable consumers to diagnose 15 medical conditions and monitor 6 vital signs on their own. The technology integrates a blood analysis system, a continuous monitoring vitals patch, and other point-of-care tests to meet the competition’s rigorous guidelines.
By June 1, DMI will deliver 30 additional units, which will undergo six months of consumer testing before the final winner of the XPRIZE is announced in 2016.
