Broad rHEALTH Capabilities Highlighted at NASA Conference

On February 13, 2014, Dr. Eugene Y. Chan of the DNA Medicine Institute presented the groundbreaking capabilities of the rHEALTH® diagnostic platform at the NASA Human Research Program (HRP) Investigators’ Workshop in Galveston, Texas. The event — “Challenges and Opportunities: Maximizing Human Space Flight Research” — brought together NASA leadership, top scientists, and funded HRP Principal Investigators.

During the presentation, Dr. Chan showcased the wide analytical range of rHEALTH, including its performance across hematology, biomarkers, clinical chemistry, nucleic acid testing, and small-molecule detection. To date, rHEALTH has successfully demonstrated over sixteen different assay types, validating its versatility across multiple diagnostic domains.

With its exceptionally low mass, minimal footprint, and low power requirements, rHEALTH is engineered for environments where every gram and watt matters — making it uniquely suited for long-duration missions to Near-Earth Objects (NEOs) and Mars. Its autonomous, user-directed operation addresses a critical need in future human spaceflight: dependable, point-of-care medical diagnostics when traditional medical infrastructure is impossible.
