DMI’s Countdown to the Tricorder XPRIZE: From 1 to 30 Tricorders in 6 weeks

On June 9, Team DMI packed up all 30 rHealth Tricorder units and headed to California to meet the $10 million Qualcomm Tricorder delivery deadline. Launched by the XPRIZE Foundation three years ago, the competition challenges teams worldwide to develop a comprehensive, consumer-ready medical device, inspired by the technological imagination of the iconic TV show Star Trek.

DMI is now among the final teams still in the contest. After delivering all 30 units in mid-June, the team held their excitement for a few more days until the XPRIZE Foundation officially confirmed that DMI had advanced to the last stage of the competition. Over the next six months, consumers will rigorously test all Tricorders before the ultimate winner is announced in January 2016.
